The Incredible “Cowboys and Aliens” Trailer is Finally Released
If you were among the horde of people that found a way to make it to the San Diego Comic Con this year, you may have already seen this trailer, however if you are like myself, you been forced to wait until today. But I gotta say this, man was the wait was worth it!
If you aren’t familiar with the graphic novel Cowboys and Aliens, you really owe it to yourself to track it down. Released in 2006 by small indy publisher Platinum Studios, Cowboys and Aliens is actually based on a game writer Scott Mitchell Rosenberg played as a child. If the name Scott Mitchell Rosenberg sounds familiar to you it’s because Rosenberg was also the founder of the very successful indy publisher Malibu comics, that would later sell to Marvel Comics.
In 2006 when the graphic novel was finally released it spent some time at the top of the charts, but more impressive then that is the fact that Dreamworks studios bought the rights to make this movie based on nothing but the outline in 1997.
“Cowboys & Aliens” follows a mysterious stranger who arrives in town with no memory of his past or the weird shackle on his wrist. When aliens attack the town, he discovers that he might hold the key to fighting them off — but only if he can get everyone inside the town to work together.
“Cowboys and Aliens” is being written by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci (of Transformers and Star Trek fame) and Damon Lindelof (the man behind the juggernaut Lost). If that’s not enough Hollywood firepower for you, it’s also being executive produced by Steven Spielberg, produced by Brian Grazer & Ron Howard and Platinum Studios’ Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. On top of all of that big name credentials “Cowboys and Indiasn” is being directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man).
The movie’s all-star cast includes Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde.
“Cowboys & Aliens” began filming in summer 2009 and will be released by DreamWorks / Universal Pictures on July 29, 2011.
