Talks About Robert Rodriguez Directing “Deadpool” Heat Up
For the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to grasp just where Robert Rodriguez stood when it came to directing the upcoming “Deadpool” movie; which is set to star the cape wearing communities dream boat Ryan Reynolds. At first both Rodriguez’s camp and Fox Studios completely denied that Robert would be sitting in the directors chair, all-the-while internet rumors buzzed that he was considering taking the role. The only thing that both sides could agree on is that Rodriguez was sent the script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
However what is being reported now by the LA Times, is that after weeks of dancing around each other, Fox Studios and Robert Rodriguez have begun negotiations. Granted, they are still just in the early stages of talking this out, but it would be the first step.
Rodriguez is currently set to direct the upcoming “Spy Kids 4″ (that oughtta do well in the box office) as well as the blood bath “Machete.” My best guess is that after these two films, Rodriguez’s camp is going to be asking for another big hit, which is something that “Deadpool” will be guaranteed to deliver.
I still stand firm that Robert Rodriquez’s ability to mix comedy with gore is the perfect fit for the “Deadpool” movies comics fans want to see. I just hope he can talk Fox out of the damn PG-13 rating on this one, because as we all know, the “Deadpool” movie we want is definitely rated “R”.
Keep your fingers crossed for a Bea Arthur cameo.
