Some Marvel Updates: New X-Men News, Ultimate Spider-Man Cartoon and the Secret Avengers

The last couple of days have been pretty busy for Marvel. Rather than do several small articles, I thought I would make this your one stop update shop. First off, there have been two new teaser images for the upcoming X-men project. The first being:

Again, I’m kinda scratching my head at the addition of Blade. I guess if you really want to bend the rules, a vampire, is in fact a mutation but again, it’s not what one would expect to see in an X-Men book. However, it’s the second one that really gets me:

Don’t get me wrong, seeing Gambit in his traditional uniform on an X-Men team brings a tear to my eye, but ELEKTRA!!??? REALLY?? How the Hell does Elektra fit in the X-Men? She’s not a mutant, Hell she doesn’t even have powers. I may have said it as a joke a couple of day ago, but now I genuinely fear that tomorrow morning I may wake up to indeed see Rocket Racer as a member of the X-Men.

Not all of the recent Marvel news is so head scratching. Personally I couldn’t be happier when I read the news that Marvel would be bringing Ultimate Spider-Man to Disney XD in 2011.

With lots of speculation on what would happen to our favorite web slinger after SONY relinquished it’s rights to the web head back to Marvel. Some wondered if the “Spectacular Spider-Man” cartoon would see another season, or if they would simply rest the character all together as Marvel preps for it’s new “Avengers” cartoon. Although Ultimate Spider-Man scribe Brian Michael Bendis has said on his Twitter account that at the moment he has nothing to do with the project, he did say he really enjoyed the pitch for the cartoon.

Lastly,Marvel has finally confirmed it’s lineup for the Secret Avengers project. Although it may not be the greatest team ever assembled, any team with Beast and Moon Knight is worth at least the benefit of the doubt. For me the only real surprise to the team is the inclusion of Valkyrie who has never really received much of a push from Marvel.

The Secret Avengers: Nomad, Beast, Captain America, Moon Knight, War Machine and Valkyrie
