There is little doubt that we live in a world that loves its comic movies. Hell, superhero movies are some of the highest anticipated movies of the year, however there are some comics that don’t need movies. Case in point, Marmaduke. Seriously, that Marmaduke.

My first clue that this is a bad idea came seconds after the trailer ended as I thought to myself, “you know, Garfield may not have been that bad.” That is not a sentence that should have ever crossed my mind. What really drives this  plane wreck (besides the horrible idea in the first place) is the cast. First you have Owen Wilson as Marmaduke… because he has proven himself to be such a versatile voice talent. The next ingredient in this stew from Hell is George Lopez as a cat… a cat. How is it that the world did not learn from “Beverly Hill Chihuahua?” As if that dynamic duo isn’t enough sprinkle in some Fergie and a dance sequence that makes you want to claw your eyes out and you get “Marmaduke”. I know that this may seem unfair,cynical  and down right harsh of me to say all of this… but watch the trailer. I swear it’s an abomination that this got made before the world got a “Calvin and Hobbes” movie.
