Kurt Busiek and BOOM! are Set to Sink Their Teeth into Dracula
Coming this August, BOOM! studios sets out to tackle the last vampire with teeth in, Dracula: The Company of Monsters. The amazing Kurt Busiek alongside Daryl Gregory and the up-and-coming artist Scott Godlewski, are taking on the challenge of bringing Dracula into the modern world.
Although rich in the original Dracula mythos (via Bram Stoker) Busiek and company are attempting to do something I thought nearly impossible after “Twilight”… make vampires cool again. In this new story, Dracula is actually bought and resurrected by a large corporation, who intend to use “Drac” as the ultimate bargaining chip. Something tells me Dracula isn’t going to just sit by and let that happen.
With comic legend Kurt Busiek penning the script, we are sure to be in for a good ride. Chances are we’ll all have a hell of a time trying to decide who the real “villain” of the story is; that particular layer of depth is something I’m looking forward to. Although vampires generally aren’t my thing, I am more then willing to fork over the cash and see how this book pans out. Again, look for Dracula: The Company of Monsters this August.
