First Look at Stan Lee and Mark Waid’s “The Traveler”
At this point you can put Mark Waid’s name on a cereal box and I’d be dying to read the thing. Now combine that with Stan Lee’s… (well Stan is his own brand at this point), and what is actually a very cool concept and BOOM! Studios is sure to have a hit on their hands with The Traveler.
The Traveler deals with a time-jumper who goes head to head with a group of super powered assassins known as the “Split Second Men” in the future. However, what really sets this story apart is the unique way Waid promises to deal with time travel.
This hero couldn’t care less about messing with history to do what he feels is right, and the whole plot of this comic is to watch the ramifications of those actions unfold.
If the perfect blend of “Back to the Future” and “Quantum Leap” isn’t enough to get you on board (which c’mon, it really should be) then perhaps knowing that the spectacular art of Chad Hardin (Amazing Spider-Man) will be gracing these pages will put you over the top. The idea of a “Stan Lee time-traveler book” didn’t exactly get me excited when I first heard about it, but now knowing what I do, I think this could be a wonderfully fun ride. Watch for the first issue this November.
