Motion Comics are still a pretty new phenomena. The first I remember coming a crossed was for “Watchmen” which was done incredibly well. Marvel tried to breathe new life into  the fledgling  Spider-Woman comic by releasing the book both in printed and motion form. Neither really caught on… then again Spider-Woman is no Astonishing X-Men. Today this day I think Whedon’s take on the school for gifted mutants might be my favorite ever. Personally I have wanted to see an Astonishing X-men animated movie, similar to what we got with “Planet Hulk”, but I’m more then happy to settle for a motion comic.

Now I may say “settle” when I talk about this motion comic, but let me be clear on one thing; this really isn’t settling on anything. Astonishing X-Men: Gifted the motion comic is a wonderful experience as a comic fan and proof that the medium does have a future. Many fans probably first came a crossed these short episodes on the Playstation Network, but now, they are finally going to be released on DVD for all of us non-Playstation owners out there. This is a great story, a fantastic comic, and a wonderful experience to watch. One that I truly recommend for any comic fan out there.
